4th May 2014 Corporate Challenge
Well! What a fantastic morning at Runaway Bay for BBR, with all of us in the medals! A 5min PB for Jas in the 15km & 4th overall (yep, including against those young 'uns!) and age Gp gold. Hunter ran a season's best in 5km & silver in age gp. Not to be outdone, Elaine showed where Hunter gets his fast legs from by running a 1.15pb in the 5km, smashing her sub25min goal with a 23.59! & Caz got 3rd overall in the 15km (2nd in age category)...things are coming together.
Race report by Kylie Gibson (Myles' Mum):
"Myles competed at the recent senior 2km (AWD) State Cross Country championships, held in Sydney, Eastern Creek Raceway. Myles ran one of the best races I've seen him run. he led the race from start to finish and looked so comfortable, finishing really strong, crossing the line in style. Myles was first over the line, but with his classification of disability (a lower percentage grading than some of the other AWD athletes he was competing against), he was awarded a bronze medal, which was a fantastic result. He was a little disappointed at first, but in the end happy with how he ran. He would have qualified for nationals again on this result, but as he is the 'old man' of running (he's turning 13 in August), he is not eligible to go through to national championships in primary school (something we didn't find out until the night before his race)."
Congratulations to Mylo from all your training squad buddies, coaches Caroline and Jas, and all the Byron Bay Runners crew! Your dedication, training ethic and strong mental attitude is great to see. You have made us all proud!!
Well Done Mylo! - Bronze State Cross Country - Sydney
MYLO GIBSON - State 800m Champion (Senior Boys) 16th October 2014
