Training schedules for Juniors/Seniors Squads and Adults/Masters are detailed below, plus ‘Summer Sizzler Series’ dates (note, no training sessions on Summer Sizzler dates)
Summer Sizzler Dates: TUESDAYS 5-7.30pm at Cavanbah Centre Athletics Track: #1 28 Oct, #2 18 Nov, #3 25 March.
Junior and Senior Squads
PRIMARY SCHOOL / HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
TUESDAYS (MAIN SQUAD DAY) : TIMETABLE TO CHRISTMAS 2025
Please note that times and locations of training vary this term, according to training group (sprinter or distance) and age (junior or senior squad).
OCTOBER
14 Oct - 5-6pm. Junior and Senior SPRINTERS Cavanbah Centre Track, DISTANCE (Junior and Senior squads combined) meet 4.45pm at CLARK’S BEACH picnic bench/beach shower (hill/stair/beach/trail run). Parent volunteers needed for Junior Distance runners.
21 Oct 5-6pm. Junior and Senior SPRINTERS Cavanbah Centre Track, DISTANCE (Junior and Senior squads combined) meet 4.45pm at CLARK’S BEACH picnic bench/beach shower (hill/stair/beach/trail run). Parent volunteers needed for Junior Distance runners.
28 Oct - 5-7.30pm SUMMER SIZZLER #1 ‘Race Night’ at Cav. Centre Track: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 3,000m. BBQ and runner’s merch shop - free to enter, open to members and non-members ALL WELCOME.
NOVEMBER
4 Nov - 5-6pm Junior and Senior Sprint and Distance squads training at Clark’s Beach (meet 4.45pm for run briefing/sign in).
11 Nov - 5-6pm Junior and Senior Sprint and Distance squads training at Clark’s Beach (meet 4.45pm for run briefing/sign in).
18 Nov - Summer Sizzler #2 (Cavanbah Centre Track)
25 Nov 5-6pm Junior and Senior Sprint and Distance squads training at Clark’s Beach (meet 4.45pm for run briefing/sign in)
DECEMBER
2 Dec 5-6pm Junior and Senior Sprint and Distance squads training at Clark’s Beach (meet 4.45pm for run briefing/sign in)

THURSDAYS (OPTIONAL SESSION): TIMETABLE TO CHRISTMAS 2025
DISTANCE RUNNERS: 5-6pm optional track session for runners aiming to compete in Australian Athletics, Little Athletics state and national championships (summer 2025/26). All sessions at Cavanbah Centre track.
SPRINTERS: 5-6pm optional track session for runners aiming to compete in Australian Athletics, Little Athletics state and national championships (summer 2025/26). All sessions at Cavanbah Centre track.
High school age runners are also welcome to attend Monday morning hill sessions (6-7am) and club social runs (must be able to run 5km continuously)
Monday ‘Hills’
Hills/Runners’ Strength Coached Session
6-7am, meet at Clarks Beach Carpark, Byron Bay
Suitable for teenagers and adults this is a coached session open to all members over 13yrs old, making the most of the hills, stairs and beautiful vistas of Cape Byron headland. Whatever your running goals, this session will help improve your running form, strengthen your legs and help you get faster/less injury prone. Must be able to run 3km continuously and up to 5km to attend this session.
Adults - Tuesdays
MORNING 6.15 - 7.15 am (Cavanbah Centre Track)
A fully coached track session (level 4 high performance coach), with structured warm-up, session and cool down, tailored to your running goals.. Suitable for all levels, from beginners/those returning from illness/injury to runners wanting to improve their times.
EVENING: From 6 - 7.30 pm (Cavanbah Centre Track)
Exclusive track access (including access to track equipment and lighting). Suitable for those runners who know their session and want company in warm up/cool down
Parking, toilets, change and shower facilities available for those coming straight from work.
Please note if you wish to access club track session times, you will need to purchase ‘add on’ $55 in addition to your base membership, to cover club costs of track hire, lighting, insurance etc. Please contact registrar@byronbayrunners. com for more information.
Adults - Thursdays
Track Session: 6-7.30pm
For those that can’t make Tuesdays, or want a second session in the week, runners meet at Cavanbah Centre track from 6pm. Suitable for those runners who know their session, and want company in warm up/cool down.
Trail Run: 6-7pm
Coaches will guide you through the secret trails within our beautiful National Parks that surround Byron Bay. Single-track trails through coastal rainforest, runs vary between 6-10km over technical terrain. Please check the starting location of the run via this link: Byron Bay Runners Facebook Visitors very welcome, please contact the club (via our ‘contact us’ page) if you’d like to come along (so coaches know to expect you). Runners often go for post-run drinks/dinner afterwards at Suffolk Park Hotel.
A head/hand torch is compulsory as runs are on unlit trails/roads.
Adults - Sunday
Recovery Run: 7am - 8am Usually a mix of beach/trail/road between 6-10km (easy pace with lots of stops). Visitors welcome! Please check the club facebook page for details of start location/duration of this week's run. Byron Bay Runners Facebook
