Weekly Winter sessions

(APRIL-SEPTEMBER)

Please note that the Summer Schedule commences annually from 1 October to Easter

JUNIOR (PRIMARY) AND SENIOR (HIGH SCHOOL) SQUADS: Tuesdays - main squad day

Middle Distance/cross country:

4-5pm for newbies/younger runners, 5-6pm for teenagers/experienced competitors (you cannot attend both sessions!). Please email coaching@byronbayrunners.com if you’d like to request a trial training session.

Sprinters:

5-6pm. The group will be split into two training groups, according to runners’ training age and competition goals.

Coaches recommend you bring both road shoes and a headtorch to training, as the session may be a road run or hill sprints.

JUNIOR AND SENIOR SQUADS: Thursdays (optional)

Aimed at those runners that have been training with the club for at least 12 months, and aiming to compete at a regional, state or national level.

Middle/Long Distance/Cross Country: meet 5-6pm (Cavanbah Centre) for a road run, timetrial or cross country paced session. Must be able to run 5km continuously to attend this session.

Sprinters: meet 5-6pm (Cavanbah Centre).

Coaches recommend you bring road running shoes and a headtorch to all training sessions, in case of hill or road fartlek/threshold training.

Additional weekly runs Runners over the age of 12yrs also have the option to participate in the 6am Monday morning hill/strength session (meets at Clarks Beach Carpark, finishes at 7am) and for runners 14yrs+ the Adults Thursday 6pm trail run (headtorch is compulsory). Both runs are a mix of beach/trail/road between 6-10km (runners must be able to run 5km continuously and up to 6km to attend). Thursday run locations change weekly; please check the club facebook page for details of start location and duration or contact coaching@byronbayrunners.com.

Mondays (everyone!)

Meet 6am (to 7am) at Clarks Beach Carpark for a fun hill/stairs/strength coached session (Coach Caroline). Open to all ages from 12yrs+ to adults/masters and suitable for beginners to seasoned runners, sprinters to ultramarathoners.

Tuesdays (adults/masters)

6.30-7.30am Track Session (Cavanbah Centre)

OR

6 - 7.30pm Track Session (Cavanbah Centre)

Both training sessions are aimed at runners looking to improve their speed. Runners are matched into groups based on pace/training goals, from beginners to those looking to get the edge on their personal bests. Sessions are coached and progressive in load, from track interval training, to road threshold and fartlek runs. Coaches will give you feedback on your running technique, and are suitable for anyone who wants to run faster!

Thursdays (adults/masters)

Social Run (Trails/Beach/Road): 6-7pm Run location varies (please check club facebook page for details of start location/duration of this week’s run. Members, email your contact details to ‘registrar@byronbayrunners.com’ to be added to the WhatsApp group. Please bring a head/hand torch as runs are on unlit trails/roads. ‘No light, no run’

TRACK: Threshold Session: 6-7.30pm at the Cavanbah Centre Typically a threshold/tempo session suitable for runners looking to improve their times over 5km, 10km, HM and marathon distances.

Sundays

Social Run / Recovery Run: 7am - 8am Adults, senior squad runners and visitors!

Usually a mix of beach/trail/road between 6-10km (easy pace with lots of stops), always coffee after! Please check the club facebook page for details of start location/duration of this week's run. Members, please email registrar@byronbayrunners.com to be added to the WhatsApp group.
